Berlin is facing multiple crises impacting urban life, particularly through intensified processes of displacement, exclusion and land speculation. Some of these issues are systemic, some are institutional and some are at an individual or collective level. In the face of acute grievances and urgent questions, the city needs new impulses for a new urban planning oriented towards the common good.

Housing crisis is one the most crucial challenges that the city is facing with. what is our role as urban designers? How we can tackle the problem? Even we would say, what is the problem?! We believe that the rent price is increasing daily and affordable housing is the thing that every society needs. On the other hand, the density of Berlin plays a significant role in this complicated problem which should not be forgotten. Increasing or keeping the current FSI (Floor Space Index), SOI (Site Occupancy Index) , GFZ (Geschossfl ächenzahl) parameters could be discussed in every professionalmeetings. Franz-künstler straße located in Kreuzberg has been known as a residential neighborhood where there are a number of social housing and land owned by Gewobag and Deutsche Wohnen companies. We started with site analysis then found some significant points like the existing trees and building which were not considered in B-Plan.
